Leeds United v Nottingham Forest (Saturday 27th October, 5:30pm kick off) - Betting Preview

The second televised game of the day should be a cracker, as two promotion chasers meet at Elland Road on Saturday teatime.

Leeds go into the weekend at the top of the Championship after a run of one defeat in five, with their last game seeing them win 2-0 over Ipswich, a result which has since seen Tractor Boys boss Paul Hurst lose his job.

For Forest, they bounced back from a disappointing home defeat to Norwich with what was a comfortable 3-0 win at Bolton in midweek. Aitor Karanka’s side are set up to be tough on the road, and it shows in their form away from home. The Reds have lost just once in their last ten away games in the Championship, and have kept the back door well and truly shut, with three clean sheets in their last four outings. The same again looks a touch overpriced at 9/2 with Coral.

Forest can also bank on a fairly solid record at Elland Road, where they’ve only lost on one of their last five visits. Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds have drawn two of their last five games, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see another stalemate in a game that sees two wily Latino managers go head-to-head. A draw in this one could be a smart bet at 11/4 with Paddy Power.

An even smarter bet might be on there to be no goals at all. It wouldn’t be the worst result in the world for either side, with both teams approaching winnable runs of games on the horizon, so a cagey match might well be the order of the day in west Yorkshire. It may not be the sort of bet that encourages the most exciting game in the eyes of a purist, but who cares when your stake has been multiplied 12 times over by MarathonBet thanks to a 0-0 draw…

But for those of you who are yearning for an exciting game and want to put some money behind it, stick a few quid on anytime goals from in-form Kemar Roofe (Leeds) and Lewis Grabban (Forest), with Leeds coming out on top on the corner count at a lovely 11.7/1 with Paddy Power.

Championship Treble: £10 on Millwall (to beat Ipswich), Norwich (Brentford), and Swansea (Reading) returns £63 with BetBright.
