Two sides sitting in the top six after the opening furlong of the promotion race meet at Ashton Gate on Saturday, and it’s also a game featuring two sides that love to attack.
The hosts boast eight goals from their last three games, while the Blades are looking very sharp up front themselves, with nine strikes in their last trio of matches. With both sides looking potent in the final third I’m surprised to see odds of around even-money (Ladbrokes) for over 2.5 match goals. Take advantage of this generous price while you can.
For Bristol City you should look no further than Andreas Weimann for a goal or two on Saturday. The Austrian has never been a prolific goal scorer but has begun the season in inspiring form since signing from Derby County in the summer, netting five goals in his opening six Championship games. Weimann is 6/4 with Betfair to score anytime here.
Looking at Bristol City’s home record on the other hand does make you think that Sheffield United should fancy their chances of getting something. Before The Robins’ 4-1 victory over Blackburn before the international break they hadn’t won on home soil in seven games, and the hosts haven’t kept a clean sheet at Ashton Gate in nine games, spanning back to mid-April. They have scored in seven of those nine games, though, so both to score should be safe as houses at 8/11 with Ladbrokes.
High-scoring sides usually win plenty of corner kicks in their search for goals, and these two are no different. Sheffield United have averaged 7.5 corners per game in the Championship so far, while City are just behind them on 6.17 per match. With that in mind, you can get 2/1 with Unibet for there to be more than 11.5 match corners, which looks like a great spot of value betting.
Picking a winner in this one isn’t easy, but Sheffield United are particularly strong on the road, and are hitting a great patch of form after an iffy start to the season. The visitors have won their last four games, but have conceded in three of those; so an away win with both teams scoring could be a bet that leaves you quids in at massive odds of 9/2 with Betfair.
