Today is time to reveal the strengths and weaknesses of a bookmaker, which probably most of the people know or at least have heard of, namely bet-at-home. The online gambling company, which name is widely popular in the betting market, is established in 1999 in Wels, Austria, and currently, it has four offices in Austria, Germany, Malta, and Gibraltar. The bookmaker has more than 300 employees who daily work for its success.
Bet-at-home holds betting licences in Malta, Germany, The UK, and Ireland. In 2014 the company got its licence by the UK Gambling Commission creating more security for its business partners and customers.
On this review, you can find more about the company, its welcome offer, sports coverage, customer support, and anything that would interest the potential players.
How to open an account with Bet-at-home?
The registration process on the website is effortless and takes just a few minutes to follow some steps.
When you visit Bet-at-home’s website you will notice a green tab called ''Register now!'' that is positioned on the top right corner. Once you click it you will be directed to the registration form page. There you have to fill your personal details such as names, address, phone number, email address etc. (regular details that every bookmaker requires). After you are ready with filling your details and confirm reading the full Terms & Conditions (make sure to do that, it's very important), you will receive an e-mail with your personal betting account number and link to verify your email address. The last step is to click on the link, and then you are ready to deposit money and place your bets with Bet-at-home.
The players on the betting scene are in a competition for every single customer. The main challenge for bookies is to attract people that are not part of their network. Additionally, gambling companies have to keep players engaged and happy by providing them with enough services and offers.
Bet-at-home is one of the few bookmakers in this business that doesn’t give any bonuses or deals for its new customers - this may be why punters are avowing bet-at-home. We cannot explain why the bookmaker decided to work this way or its motives, however, we strongly disagree with that practice and advise bet-at-home to rethink its position about the new customer offers.
When we checked what the promotions for existing customers are, surprisingly we found only one offer. Its name is ''0-0 cashback bonus'', and you can receive your stake up to £50 if the game that you bet on ends 0-0. Keep in mind that the events are pre-selected by bet-at-home and you have to place your bets only on them if you want to qualify for the offer.
If bet-at-home intends to keep its good reputation, it has to update the promotions to be with more available offers as those are a significant part of every betting business.
Our personal view is that bet-at-home is losing its market position and this is not only due to the extremely weak bonus approach but due to some other reason which we will be observing below.
Design and first impression
The website design has not the best style and it hasn’t been updated for years. That fact doesn’t go unmarked as people with betting experience like us can notice that the bookmaker doesn’t rely on design changes. Honestly, the website looks like you are back in 2005, and nowadays it definitely is not attractive for the new generation of punters. On the other hand, the website is very simple and you can navigate through the menus very easily, but still it is outdated.
When you are at the landing page you can notice only a few sections positioned. Along with the live events, pre-game highlights, and a few banners. Bet-at-home bookmaker located on its first page the available payment methods and news area with the latest sports updates.
Another interesting feature is the ‘top winners' area where are shown the big winners and their earned amounts. This seems a bit strange to us because we are not sure that every player wants to be featured and exposed on the bookmaker’s website, moreover on its landing page.
On the top are positioned the tabs for the available sports, casino, live casino, e-sports betting, and virtual games.
Bet-at-home sports coverage and betting odds
If you want to find the strengths of the bookmaker, just click on the tab Sports, and it will direct you to a page with all sports that the bookmaker has in its betting portfolio. A wide variety of daily betting opportunities can be easily found in this section. At the day when we examined the website and wrote this review, we found more than 35 sports available that were supported by dozens of markets to bet on. You can place your bet on the most familiar sports such as football, tennis, basketball, and boxing. Along with them, you can check the interesting betting opportunities that can bring you profit such as politics, sailing, chess, StarCraft II, and Counter-Strike.
Definitely, Bet-at-home focuses mainly on football and covers leagues and tournaments from all over the world, even non-league events.
The bookmaker’s biggest disadvantage is the lack of markets for horse racing. That sport attracts many punters and is mandatory for the bookmakers, even more for the most popular one, which bet-at-home claims to be. The only way to place horse racing bets is to check the virtual games area, where you can find horse racing simulations. Missing horse racing in your sports portfolio while being among the biggest bookmakers in the world is absolutely unacceptable this is a huge minus for Bet-at-home.
We checked the odds that the bookmaker gives for betting, and we can say that they are same as those in the competitors' websites. To verify that fact feel welcome to check and compare the odds that Bet-at-home provides on our odds comparison.
The betting odds are shown as decimals but you can change the view to fractional.
Something else we should underline, bet-at-home does not really welcome punters that enjoy staking more than £150 so if you are planning to place bets with big stake please cautious with Bet-at-home.
Live betting at bet-at-home
Some players prefer to place their bets live and choose their bookmaker by its range of live events and extras.
Bet-at-home offers various live markets in a wide range of sports. You can't find live streaming, but for many games, the bookmaker gives to its customers’ live extras such as teams’ line-ups, visualisation, and comments of what is happening during the game.
During your journey with bet-at-home, you can place live bets on sports like football, tennis, basketball, as well as beach volleyball, table tennis, counter-strike, and many others.
The extras, which are available on bookmakers’ websites are a very important part of our reviews. Here bet-at-home gives plenty of exciting options, and you can use its many extras which are:
- *Cash-out - available for both live and pre-game, single and multiple bets
- *Mobile App – bet-at-home developed a user-friendly app for both Android and IOS operating systems, which gives you the opportunity to enjoy betting wherever you are. Simply download it and have a good time while betting anywhere.
- *Result centre - a place where you can find results for more than 20 sports for up to one month back.
- *Live score area - here you can follow in-play games on many sports.
- *Betting guide - a zone where the bookmaker explains in details the betting rules.
- *Casino area - the casino lovers can enjoy an area with various games, many jackpots, and numerous opportunities to win.
Whether you bet with a high amount or your bets are just for fun with small stakes, you always have to be informed about the payment processes on the website.
Bet-at-home provides several ways to deposit and withdraw your money. The most popular methods are debit and credit cards, e-wallets (such as Skrill, Neteller, Paysafe card, and others) through which you can deposit your money instantly. Only the bank transfer takes around 3 days and you have to wait before placing your bets if you decide to use it. The minimum deposit is £10 and all methods are without fees.
For withdrawals, you can use the same payment ways with a varying minimum and maximum amount for that (for example the minimum for debit cards is £75). If you use Skrill you have only 2 free transactions per month (3 for bank transfers). For every additional withdrawal, the fee is up to £5.
When you have questions, you can ask for help the bet-at-home’s customer support. Whether your question is about depositing or withdrawals, technical issues, mobile app, or anything else, you can be assisted in several ways.
The most used is the live chat where you will be supported by professionals who are ready to answer your queries. A FAQ area with rich information is the place where you can search for answers.
We found two more ways to contact bet-at-home’s customer care team - by email and by phone. You can email to firstname.lastname@example.org or call to +356-20102511.
Anyway, the bookmaker provides enough methods for contact, a commendable fact.
Bet-at-home in short
For us is always a pleasure to review a bookmaker because we believe that we help our customers (and not only ours) to find enough information about bookmakers and take control of their betting. That's why we will continue to show the pros and cons of every bookmaker.
In overall the popular betting platform bet-at-home has enough services to boast about but if they want to keep their positions in the iGaming industry they should very quickly restructure their working model.
It would not be much if we say that the design of the website ridiculously old looking and they are far behind the competition.
Another huge disadvantage is the lack of a welcome offer. In 21st century it is almost impossible to attract new customer register with you if you do not have any sort of a welcome bonus. This is another are they should enhance in foreseeable future.
Bet-at-home does not also support horse racing betting – c’ mon you want to penetrate the UK betting market in you does not support the second biggest sport by volume. In our very own view, it will be difficult to attract new customers when you can offer horse racing betting.
The positive sides, which we want to bring to your attention are the big sports portfolio, the nice live area, and fair odds. The additional extras such as the mobile app, cash-out option, live score, and result centre, are also features that can convince you to open an account with bet-at-home.
Another positive about bet-at-home is that there extremely big and reputable company, so you can be completely sure that your money are safely stored and if you win a big accumulator bet you will get your money.
